“It’s an age old story that has stood the test of time, I was very young when I first heard about The Mummy.” – Annabelle Wallis on The Mummy

The Mummy is the highly anticipated summer blockbuster reboot of the timeless legendary tale. Starring Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis, the highly action packed movie is the beginning of a massive series of classic Hollywood monster films being rebooted. In addition to The Mummy, there will be: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Van Helsing, Frankenstein, and more. Directed by Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us), The Mummy features stunning stunt routines and an epic plane crash sequence.

The Mummy follows the aftermath of an ancient princess being awakened from her crypt beneath the desert sands. Her horrors have been building up for centuries and her powers defy human comprehension, sweeping from the Middle East to the modern streets of London. Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) and Jenny Halsey (Annabelle Wallis) attempt to destroy the evil mummy’s powers. The Mummy is played by Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond, Atomic Blonde), and Russell Crowe will be introduced as Dr. Jekyll. The Mummy also stars Courtney B. Vance, Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, and Simon Atherton.

Annabelle Wallis also starred in this year’s action movie King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Most notably known for her roles in Annabelle, W. E., The Tudors, and Pan Am, Wallis has been a busy actress the last few years, with The Mummy being perhaps her largest scale role. “(Tom Cruise) was so much part of my childhood, my cinematic formation,” says Wallis. “It’s a great honor and one that I will take a while to digest.”

FilmInside’s reporter Rachel Kasuch sat down with Annabelle Wallis to discuss The Mummy. Wallis talks about believing in legends, personal fears, doing her own stunts, and more. “It’s incredible working with Tom, and he was very adamant that if I was going to be a part of this film I would be doing my on stunts,” Wallis says. “He’s a certified stuntman… he inspired a brave and that’s an incredible gift to give to someone.” To see more about what Annabelle Wallis has to say about The Mummy, watch the exclusive video interview below.
