“This version of Beauty and the Beast will define a whole new generation in a wonderful way,” – Josh Gad on Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast is the highly anticipated live action remake of the beloved Disney 1991 classic. Featuring an all-star cast and dazzling special effects, the film will undoubtedly be 2017’s first major blockbuster. In a featurette for the film, the cast and crew sat down to talk about their experiences of remaking this classic they personally love so much.

Dan Stevens, who plays the Beast, says, “I know that I’ve watched it a hundred times since and now that I have kids of my own, probably thousands more.”

“I have loved Beauty and the Beast ever since I was about four years old,” says Emma Watson. She steps into the shoes of the iconic Disney princess Belle. This also marks as Watson’s first musical. She dedicated her time by taking vocal lessons and set out to bring Belle to life in a deeper way. “When you love something that much you really want to do it justice,” Watson says.

“I just thought it was the most beautiful and perfect movie,” says director Bill Condon. Both he and Watson set out to establish Belle as a strong, fully realized character, and to “Distinguish Belle again 25 years later as a 21st century.”

The massive cast and crew worked together to bring the animated visuals to real life. The actors had big shoes to fill, as their roles are so memorable and legendary. “It was something we all knew we had to live up to,” says Josh Gad, who plays Lefou. “This version of Beauty and the Beast will define a whole new generation in a wonderful way.”

Beauty and the Beast will feature all the original music from the 1991 film, but will also include new songs written by composer Alan Menken.

Beauty and the Beast opens everywhere Friday, March 17, 2017.
