“It’s childlike, its like playing pretend again like you’re a kid.”- Dane DeHaan on working with CGI and Valerian.

Valerian is Luc Besson’s epic sci-fi adventure hitting theaters this weekend. Based on the comic book by Pierre Christin, this marks as Besson’s first film in three years following Lucy starring Scarlett Johansson. Known for his classics The Professional and The Fifth Element, Besson adapted the comic to screen working on it for years. Cara Delegine (Suicide Squad) and Dane DeHaan (A Cure For Wellness) lead the cast, with pop-star Rihanna (Battleship) costarring.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets follows Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Lauraline (Cara Delevingne), two unlikely heroes in the 28th century. They are special operatives who are in charge of maintaining peace in human territories. Their new mission takes them to Alpha, a huge metropolis and that converges many different species together. A dark force threatens to destroy the peace and safety of Alpha, causing Valerian and Lauraline to battle evil and save the universe. The film features mind blowing CGI and 3-D effects that resemble films like Avatar and even Besson’s beloved The Fifth Element.

Cara Delevingne rides off a busy couple of years starring in indie hit Paper Towns and DC smash Suicide Squad. In addition to modeling, Delevingne’s film career has taken off, with three more films added to her resume: London Fields, Fever Heart, and Life in a Year. Dane DeHaan starred in this year’s A Cure For Wellness directed by Gore Verbinski, and is taking a small break after Valerian.

FilmInside’s reporter David Bruce sat down with Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan to discuss Valerian. They open up about boxing, working with CGI, and saving the world. Dane DeHaan admits that if he could save one thing in the world today, it would be “World Peace”, to which Delevingne laughs and says, “You sound like you’re in a pageant, but that’s true, World Peace.” To see what more Delevingne and DeHaan have to say about Valerian, watch the exclusive video interview below.
