“You’re sort of removed from reality in a pleasant way, I think that’s the appeal of these movies.” – Mark Hamill on Star Wars
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is almost here, finally! It’s been a long two years since Disney made The Force Awakens, which brought back the original Star Wars character Luke Skywalker, played by the one and only Mark Hamill.
The Last Jedi picks up where The Force Awakens left off, with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) meeting for the first time on an epic cliff overlooking the ocean. Rey joins Skywalker as she takes her first steps into the world of Jedi. Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac) joint he pair to unlock the mystery of the Force, as well as secrets from the past. Carrie Fisher give her last screen performance as Leia. Also joining the cast are: Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Billie Lourd, Benicio Del Toro, Gwendolyn Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, and Laura Dern. The film is directed by Rian Johnson (Looper). The Last Jedi was filmed on location in Croatia, Ireland, England, Bolivia, and North Carolina.
Mark Hamill took quite a long break from acting before starring in The Force Awakens in 2015. He is rumored to come back for Star Wars Episode IX in 2019, and will star in this years TV film Relatively Super, as well as the film Con Man. The Last Jedi will mark as the last on screen pairing of Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher.

Hamill discusses strengths, family, and all of the different locations Star Wars has been filmed. He also opens up on the difference between living in a fantasy world versus reality. “We want escapism, it’s therapeutic,” says Hamill. “To go somewhere, in this case a galaxy far, far away, where you can forget all your troubles.
