It Comes At Night is the new indie horror film that many have dubbed “the scariest movie of the year” when it premiered in New York. Riley Keough (Magic Mike), Christopher Abbott (Girls), Joel Edgerton (The Gift), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), and Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Mudbound) join the small, excellent cast to tell a story of isolation, paranoia, and the end of the world. 

It Comes At Night follows a married couple (Riley Keogh, Christopher Abbott) escaping an unnatural threat that has wiped out a majority of the human race. They seek shelter with a family (Joel Edgerton, Carmen Ejogo, Kelvin Harrison Jr.) in the middle of the woods. All are threatened by an outside force, a fear of the unknown, and a deadly suspicion that one of them in the house might not be who they say they are. 




Riley Keough has made a name for herself the last few years as a model and actress. The eldest grandchild of Elvis Prestly, Keough has starred in hits like Mad Max: Fury Road and Logan Lucky. She will also star in this years projects Hold The Dark, Welcome The Stranger, The House That Jack Built, and Under The Silver Lake. Christopher Abbott broke out in HBO’s hit show Girls, and starred in USA’s stellar series The Sinner. Abbott will also star in the years films Full-Dress, Tyrel, and Piercing. 

Joel Edgerton has starred and directed in several films the last couple of years like The Gift. He will direct and star in next years Boy Erased with Lucas Hedges. Carmen Ejogo joins the new season of True Detective, and will reprise her role as Seraphina Picquery in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Kelvin Harrison Jr. has several films lined up next year including Monsters and Men, JT Leroy, and Assassination Nation. 

Film Inside’s reporter David Bruce met with Riley Keogh, Christopher Abbott, Joel Edgerton, Carmen Ejogo, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. to discuss the making of It Comes At Night. The talented cast talk about their favorite scary movies, and what keeps them up at night personally. “There’s something cool about when a horror movie breathes into you afterwards,” admits Joel Edgerton. “I wasn’t allowed to watch horror movies, so the only thing that was scary was something like Alice In Wonderland,” says Kelvin Harrison Jr. To see more of what the cast of It Comes At Night has to say, watch our interview below.
