“I think I remember being cornered by a storm trooper at some kind of uncomfortable Halloween party.” – Phoebe Waller-Bridge on Star Wars

SOLO: A Star Wars Story, the highly anticipated Star Wars prequel telling the origin story of Han Solo hits theatres this weekend! With Alden Ehrenreich stepping into the iconic shoes of a role originated by Harrison Ford, the film introduces the cinematic galaxy to Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and the millennium falcon.

SOLO follows the one and only Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) in his early twenties. He is in love with Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) and makes new best friends with Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). Solo is thrust into a heist for coxaium, a rare, expensive mineral used for fuel. Solo pairs with husband and wife Beckett and Val (Woody Harrelson and Thandie Newton) to steal some of the mineral. Ultimately, Solo is forced to work for villain Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany) to gain control of the powerful fuel, and save the live of his friends along the way. The film is directed by Oscar winning Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind).

Alden Ehrenreich was discovered by Stephen Spielberg himself. He starred in Woody Allen’s Oscar winning drama Blue Jasmine, and starred alongside George Clooney in The Coen Brothers’ comedy Hail Caesar. Donald Glover recently won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his performance in hit TV show Atlanta. He will also lend his voice as Simba in 2019’s The Lion King. Emilia Clarke changes her look to play Qi’ra, a drastic change from her iconic role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. She will also star in next years thriller Above Suspicion directed by Phillip Noyce.

FilmInside met with SOLO stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Paul Bettany, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Joonas Suotamo, and director Ron Howard to discuss their earliest memories of Star Wars. “It changed my life I think as a kid and took me out of a very miserable, grey 70’s London and took me to another universe,” admits Paul Bettany. “To see your name on the poster with that type set that lettering is a real thrill.” To see more of what the cast has to say about their Star Wars memories, watch our interview below.
