Thor: Ragnarok teaser-trailer features a new haircut for Thor, a Goth Cate Blanchett, and Led Zeppelin!

Thor: Ragnarok is the third installment of the Thor series coming out this November. The highly anticipated sequel’s plot and overall look have been secretive, but a brand new trailer just dropped. And it’s 80’s retro-fied epic gold!

The trailer begins with Thor rocking his iconic gold locks, and he’s trapped in a net in the Norse underworld. A mysterious woman sporting all black gothic attire catches his hammer and destroys it. The face is revealed to be none other than Oscar winning Cate Blanchett playing Hela, the film’s villain.

Hela stands before Thor’s home and blows the place up. Thor lands on a planet called Sakaar where there is a lot of trash, and the locals look like extras from 1977’s Star Wars cantina bar scene. We also get a first glimpse of Valkyrie played by Tessa Thompson (Creed, Westward) who wears black leather accompanied by Avatar-esque accessory make up.

Jean-Baptiste Zorg is revealed, and is played by none other than Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) with white spiky hair and a blue line on his chin, because you know, he’s a badass ruler of Sakaar. He likes to pit people against each other in a Gladiator type arena. Oh, and Thor gets a haircut, a very short haircut.

Thor is placed in the giant arena to fight his opponent who turns out to be… The Hulk! He gets a big smile on his face and says “I know him! He’s my friend!” The Hulk then gets a very angry face and they run against each other and then boom! Trailer finished.

Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song is played throughout and the Marvel fonts are 80’s-fied ala Tron, possibly paying a nod to sidekick hit Guardians of the Galaxy.

The final title sequence fits in nicely with the Zeppelin and 80’s references throughout to reveal a font that looks exactly like the video games one would play in a 1985 arcade.

Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3, 2017.
