Superhero movies continue to be all of the rage right now and this is especially true for the upcoming movie addition to the Thor franchise. The highly anticipated “Thor: Ragnarok” is the third movie in this series and is set to be released on July 28, 2017. This movie may very easily be overlooked by the other incredible offerings being released that same year, including “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and the sequel of the incredible “Guardians of the Galaxy” but it is definitely getting a lot of buzz. Some people would even argue that this is going to be the best of the movies. Let’s take a look at everything we know about this third part of this franchise.

If you love the Thor and Hulk dynamic, you are really going to love this movie. Mark Ruffalo, known in the Marvel franchise for playing the Hulk, discussed his role in the movie even before it was officially announced by the producers. We may not know the exact details of these two great characters adventures, but we do know that this is going to be an incredible ride to watch. There has been some speculation that this was going to be inspired by the “Planet Hulk” storyline, where the Hulk ended up battling in a gladiatorial arena”. This may have been confirmed when Marvel posted pictures of gladiator gear.

Another thing that fans can infer is that this is going to be an apocalyptic style movie. That is because in Norse mythology, Ragnarok signified the end of days. This was brought on by the death of several of their gods that were within the pantheon. This was also hinted at in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, when Thor had that vision quest which seemed incredibly out of place at that time in the movie. Now it seems that there was more to it than that.

There are also some new characters to look forward to in this movie, including a new hero. Tessa Thompson will be playing Valkyrie, who was his love interest and an ally in the comic series. You can also expect to see such big names as Jeff Goldblum and Cate Blanchett in this new movie. Blanchett is set to star as the villainous Goddess of the Dead Hela while Goldblum will be playing the Grandmaster. We also know that the lovable Tom Hiddleston is set to reprise his role as Loki, though it has yet to be seen what his agenda is this time around.

A lot of people have been speculating that this may be the last we see of Chris Hemsworth as Thor. In the movie, he has a shorter haircut making people mourn the loss of those flowing locks. What is important to note about this hairstyle is that could be inspired by the “Unworthy Thor” comic series that is coming up. This series follows a Thor that has been banished from Asgard when he was deemed unfit to be the one wielding his hammer Mjölnir. This could leave the door open for a new Thor.

So far, Marvel remains tight-lipped as usual, but speculating about these anticipated movies helps us pass the time until they are released.
