The Fate of the Furious remains a force, and How to be a Latin Lover surprises!

Nothing can stop The Fate of the Furious from holding on to the number one spot. For the third week in a row, the blockbuster action flick scored strong numbers. How to be a Latin Lover surprised many by racing to the number two spot, doing better than expected and even eclipsing The Circle which comes in at number four. Here’s a look at what happened at the box office over the weekend:

1st place is: The Fate of the Furious with $19 million. The eighth installment has grossed $192 million in three weeks. The mega popular franchise has now grossed over $3 billion worldwide. Charlize Theron joins the likes of Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, and Michelle Rodriguez in the film that finds Dom (Diesel) being seduced to an underworld of terrorism that poses as the biggest threat the crew has been a part of.

2nd place is: How to be a Latin Lover with $12 million. The hilarious comedy stars Eugenio Derbez as a man who has made a career of seducing rich older women. After being dumped, he moves his sister played by Salma Hayek, who teaches him the value of family. The film received positive reviews and is directed by Ken Marino.

3rd place is: Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Debuting with $10 million. The popular Indian film is a sequel to 2015’s Baahubali: The Beginning. Shiva, the son of Baahubali, learns about his heritage and looks for answers, while the past events of the Mahishmati Kingdom unfold. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty.

4th place is: The Circle. Debuting with $9.3 million, the new thriller has an A-list cast starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, who scored a mega hit earlier in the year with Beauty and the Beast. Watson stars as a woman who lands her dream job at a powerful tech company called The Circle. She soon discovers a nefarious agenda that will affect the lives of humanity.

5th place is: The Boss Baby. Making $9 million, the film has now made $148 million. Disney’s animated comedy stars the voice of Alec Baldwin as a baby who dresses up in a suit to fight a bad CEO who is ruining Puppy Co. He teams up with his seven year old brother (Miles Christopher Bakshi) to take the evil empire down. The animated film also features the voices of Lisa Kudrow, Tobey Maguire, Jimmy Kimmel, and Steven Buscemi.

Rounding out the top ten are: in 6th place: Beauty and the Beast (Emma Watson) with $6.4 million, in 7th place: Going in Style (Morgan Freeman) with $3.5 million, in 8th place: Smurfs: The Lost Village with $3.3 million, in 9th place: Gifted (Chris Evans) with $3.2 million, and in 10th place: Unforgettable (Katherine Heigl) with $2.3 million.
