With the success of Suicide Squad and the development of a Harley Quinn-led movie, it is obvious that DC Comics second favorite psychopath (behind The Joker, her sometimes boyfriend) will appear on Gotham with the other villains. This was officially confirmed by executive producer John Stephens, who said she would be in Season 3 and, more specifically, in its 22nd episode.
“The Harley Quinn of it all is a bit more of a sticky wicket, but it’s one we’ve already thought about for the character, said Stephens. “We don’t want to give too much away, but it will definitely be someone connected to the Joker cult world that we have set up. But it’s down the road, later in Season 3 right now.”
However, it has been revealed that she has already been on the show, but viewers just didn’t know it. “You may have already seen Harley as a person that you thought you had met and known for a long time. So we always reserve the right to sort of do that as well,” said Ken Woodruff, the show’s co-producer.
This is where fans are now Easter egg hunting through past episodes to see when Harley Quinn did appear. Some have already identified an earlier episode when a gangster enters a bar owned by Barbara Kean and threatens her. Kean laughs and proceeds to beat up gangsters without fear. The reaction is just like Harley Quinn’s crazy persona, and there’s the strong belief now that Barbara will become Harley very soon. Based on her looks, Barbara seems to fit the physique of what Harley is.
“Gotham” airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on Fox. Stay tuned to see if Barbara Kean does in fact formally become Harley.
