“He really gets to know everyone on set and their names and their families, I was really impressed.” – Sarah Wright on Tom Cruise

Sarah Wright joins an all-star cast in the true crime film American Made. Tom Cruise stars as Barry Seal, a TWA pilot recruited by the CIA to be in charge of one of the biggest operations in American history. The story take place during the mid-80’s, a time that Sarah Wright remembers from her childhood. “Shoulder pads, blue eye shadow, my mother in her perm and her giant glasses,” says Wright.

American Made follows Barry Seal (Cruise), a pilot that is hired and trained by the CIA to provide reconnaissance on the communist threat in Central America. He becomes in charge of the largest covert CIA operations in US history. He also works as a drug runner for the Medellin cartel, an operation that nearly takes down the Reagan White House. Sarah Wright plays Seal’s wife Lucy. The movie is directed by Doug Liman, who previously worked with Cruise on ‘The Edge of Tomorrow’, and also made ‘The Bourne Identity’, ‘Swingers’ and ‘Jumper’.

Sarah Wright is a model and actress, known for her roles in ‘The House Bunny’, ‘Walk of Shame’, the hit TV show ‘Marry Me’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’. She grew up idolizing Tom Cruise, and shared her experiences of working with him. “He put me at ease right away and made me feel like I was meant to be there, he wanted me to be Lucy,” says Wright. “That encouragement from him to be so inclusive gave me the great freedom to be comfortable.”

FilmInside’s reporter Rachel Kasuch met with Sarah Wright to talk about American Made. They discuss kissing Tom Cruise, the 80’s, and filming steamy sex scenes. “The montage of sex scenes we have at the beginning of the movie are all on the first day,” says Wright. “I was like ‘What?! We’re filming all of those in the morning?’” But she admits, “It was sorta this thing where right away we kind of fell into it comfortable which is a good thing to do because we had to do all that embarrassing stuff first.” To see more about what Sarah Wright has to say about the film and Cruise, watch the exclusive video interview below.
